Yesterday’s trade saw EUR/CHF within the range of 0.9847-1.0135. The pair closed at 0.9969, losing 1.27% on a daily basis.
At 7:45 GMT today EUR/CHF was down 0.49% for the day to trade at 0.9915. The pair touched a daily low at 0.9907.
Spanish unemployment
Spain’s jobless rate probably decreased to 23.50% during the three months to December, according to market expectations, from 23.67% in Q3. The latter has been the lowest rate of unemployment since the fourth quarter of 2011, supported by strong job creation in the private sector.
In Q3 the number of unemployed persons decreased to 5.4 million. Employment increased 0.87% during Q3 compared to the previous quarter to reach 17.5 million persons. In Q3 there were 154 900 more persons employed in the private sector and 3 900 fewer in the public sector. During the same period the sector of services added 108 800 new jobs, industry – 71 800, while construction – 43 500, according to data by the National Statistics Institute (INE).
